Theology matters how to read the bible planning centre

Theology Matters: How to Read the Bible

October 28th, 2017

The Bible is a complex book! For one thing, it's more of a library than a single book. It contains 66 books, of various styles, written by many different authors over thousands of years. No wonder we often struggle to know how to understand it!

In these interactive seminars, Liam Thatcher will look at principles for reading the Bible, considering questions like:

  • How can we understand the Bible in its original context?
  • How can we apply the Bible's message in our own, very different, context?
  • How should we interpret the different genres within the Bible: history, narrative, letter, poetry?
  • How should we read the Old Testament, in the light of Jesus?

The day will take place at:

The London Institute for Contemporary Christianity, St Peter's, Vere Street, W1G 0DQ

We will start at 10.00 and serve coffee mid-morning. Lunch is not provided, but there are plenty of places nearby to pick up food during the breaks.
